Teens and Sex Education

Contraception education, sex or abstinence education, as it is called in many names, encourage teens to abstain from sex or have protected sex. An expert is invited to talk about sex education – someone teens can relate to and believe in.

  • Sex education has been known to effectively campaign against sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy. By providing information to teens about sex, they are able to protect themselves from following false impressions and can therefore protect themselves.
  • Abstinence education teach teens that abstinence is the only very effective and 100% safe way to prevent teen pregnancy. Apart from maintaining their overall health, abstinence can also teach them love for themselves and better respect.
  • Sex education is a very broad subject. It discusses not just prevention but other related knowledge as well such as reproductive health for them to be able to understand and therefore appreciate their body better.
  • This can only be the only avenue where teens can have interaction and voice out their questions and concerns instead of just reading about it. By having with sessions with their peers, they can better understand the real struggles each of them face everyday as they protect themselves from teen pregnancy and other diseases.
  • Experts and other adults are the ones who are tapped to provide sex education. During these critical times, teens are discouraged to talk amongst themselves and are encouraged to approach people who are more knowledgeable and have the answers to their compelling questions.

Wrong information and misleading advice can lead to further problems and complications that will not really help at all.

Not just in school, but also at home, it is important that the youth are exposed to the different truths about sex. As an old saying goes, prevention is indeed better than cure. Sex education is important not just in preventing early pregnancy, but everyone must remember that it is all about living healthy and well.

When teens would have to deal with teen pregnancy, the concerns are far bigger than just handling the pregnancy, it also means having to deal with different social and financial concerns as well.

Because of modern day concerns, sex education should no longer be a taboo, but rather, it should be an integral part of one’s education as it prepares them to face the different challenges of life.
