Where and When Soccer Began - The History of Soccer

150 years passed since the game of soccer first appeared in England, particularly in London. Some people believed that soccer was born in ancient Egypt but officially, soccer was born in England. At this time, clubs formed an association to write the laws of the game which control it in 1863. The first soccer association cup was in 1872 when the Wanderers and Royal Engineers Clubs met in the finals and the Wanderers won the cup.

The first league competition was also in England which formed from 12 clubs. When the popularity of the soccer game was beginning to increase, it turned from amateurism to professionalism and more professionals appeared in England and Scotland.

When the game was beginning to spread overall the world, the need to form an international body that controlled the game, the players and the competition was very essential so FIFA was formed in Paris in 1904 and the first president was Robert Guerin. The first men's world cup was in Uruguay during the year 1930 and the first woman's world cup was in China in 1991.

Nowadays, there are thousands of clubs around the world and hundreds of championships in different continents and countries are take place. The world cup takes place every four years in different countries.

Brazil is the country to won this cup the most number of times - five times - followed by Italy, Germany, Argentina, Uruguay, England, France and Spain. There is no country from Africa, Asia or North America that has ever won this cup or even gotten to the final match.

The other championships are ASC Asian cup, African cup of nations, European championship, North America's gold cup and Oceania's OFC Nation’s cup. In each country there are different competitions that take place and country cups with different names like Bonds Liga in Germany and Premier League in England, which is the home and the land of soccer.

Soccer has several millions of fans allover the world and now it is the world’s most popular game. Soccer players are very famous and very wealthy.

Nowadays soccer has an economic side because of commercials, deals and many causes that it’s people support. There are some players that cannot be forgotten in soccer history like Maradona and Messi from Argentina; Pele, Romario, Ronaldo, and Rivaldo from Brazil; Zidan from France; David Beckham from England; Raul Gonzalez from Spain; Roji Milla from Cameron and many more.

To many people, soccer will be the first, the most popular, interesting, beautiful, and exciting game in the world.
