Things that Fast Food Chains do not Tell You
Fast food has become more than just as source of nourishment but rather it has been more like a religion for a lot of people. These days, people do not really have the time, much less the interest to cook their own meals and since eating at fancy restaurants is not exactly very practical, fast food chains have become the first choice in dining.
If you are one of those who sit in front of the TV day in and day out with super sized fries and extra large soft drinks, there are certain things you need to know before you fall into this practice too deep that you jeopardize your health and general well being.
1. All fast food chains use trans fat to cook the food. Trans fat, as you might know, packs a lot of triglycerides and very high cholesterol level which are basically the ticket to heart attack country.
2. Food products usually stay in the freezer for weeks before they get cooked and served. Fast food chains would lead you to believe that they actually have stocks delivered on a daily basis but this is not always the case. In order to save on transportation/shipping expenses, what these places do is invest in a very large freezer which can hold hundreds of pounds of fries and burgers patties which will be served to clueless and hapless customers.
3. They make a fortune out of every order you place. Fast food chains are notorious when it comes to making the most out of every sale. For every dollar that they invest, they get at least $25.00 in profits.
4. Diet sodas have as much calories as the regular ones. This is one of the things that a lot of fast food junkies do not know and do not really care to know. It is never one of those things that you can distinguish through taste so you would think that you are actually drinking healthier when in truth it packs pretty much the same unwanted calories as the next thing.
5. Smoothies are just as fattening as carbonated drinks. In a desperate attempt to relive the customers’ fear of too much calorie consumption, fast food chains attempt to pass smoothies as the new healthy drink which they gladly offer under the guise of health consciousness. What you do not know is that they sometimes contain just as much calories and twice as much sugar as sodas.
