Here are some tips that can help you and relieve of the discomforts of menopause.
•    The first and most important thing to do is to consult your doctor. He would be able to identify which medical options and interventions can best relieve you from the symptoms of menopause.
Most doctors recommend hormone therapy as it can counter the adverse effects of menopause such as hot flashes, difficulty sleeping or prevent vaginal dryness.
•    When experiencing hot flashes, first try to determine for yourself its cause. While hot flashes are easily identified with menopause, drinking hot drinks, eating spicy foods, taking alcoholic beverages, frequent stress, hot climate or a warm room temperature can also trigger hot flashes.
To counter this, it is important to keep surrounding temperatures cool, and staying away from foods and other elements that can trigger hot flashes.
•    As with any other medical condition, it is important that a healthy lifestyle is maintained. By eating a healthy diet and getting regular exercise, it can greatly improve your general well-being.
•    Observe regular sleeping hours. Try to sleep at the same time everyday and wake up also on a regular time everyday. By regulating your sleep hormones, the other hormones in your body will follow suit as well.
To help you with it, avoid drinking caffeine at least 4 hours prior to your sleeping time – and this includes soft drinks as well. While alcohol can make you feel like you are ready for sleep, it can actually interfere your regular body clock thus affecting your sleep pattern.
Like any other health condition, it is best that you arm yourself with knowledge to better understand your condition. Menopause is a manageable stage and with the support of people around you and true strength of a woman, this phase in life can be coped with better.
